GSB is effectively two things – igneous and metamorphic petrology. There is, therefore, a lot of microscope work, optics theory and the dreaded phase diagram. Don’t be put off! If you enjoyed 1A then you will enjoy this as well. You learn about lots of new minerals, meet the most incredible lecturer in Judith, and have a great time on the Cornwall field trip.

I was choosing between GSA and GSB, and thought that whilst GSA might be more interesting, I would perform better in GSB. Now I think that I was probably wrong, and that GSB was more interesting, as well as easier for someone with a head for figures like myself.
