For anyone thinking about choosing PDN as their part II option, they have to know that it is a course which relies a lot on your independent work. In contrast to HPS or Zoology, supervisions aren’t really offered directly by lecturers so it’s up to you entirely to organize them and be able to find enough people to discuss your essays with. I highly recommend this, as every supervisor seems to be rather specific as to what they regard a first class essay. Also, it always gives you an opportunity to get a feel for what might come up in the exam.

All in all, PDN is an interesting yet challenging course. The disadvantage is that this course is mostly chosen by Medics (especially the options that I chose for my third year).
